Gallery Nadine Feront Writing last year for Pierre Clemens’ “Levity” solo exhibition at Nadine Feront Gallery, I had emphasized that landscapes, besides their visual beauty, are dynamic “ensembles” where time, nature, human action and ideas as well as social and economic reality interact. Their impact upon the beholder is visual, but also sensual – they bring into a seemingly coherent knot the incommensurable, encompassing even the body of the viewer. In “Levity”, Pierre Clemens’ work had explored this sensual and physiological dimension of landscape, the artist using optical techniques to translate this complex phenomenon and produce a similar impact.
